Media General Stand Out With 6 at 2018 RTP Awards

Media General, managers of TV3, 3FM, Onua FM, Connect FM, in Takoradi, Akoma FM, in Kumasi, 3news.com and Adesa Production Limited, etched their dominance in the media landscape by grabbing a total of six awards during the 2018 Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards over the weekend.

This feat goes a long way to crystallize the conglomerate’s vision to lead the media space in Africa by 2025.

TV3’s major news bulletin, News 360, was adjudged the Best News Programme for the year 2017/2018.

This award gives credence to the tagline of the station: ‘First in News, Best in Entertainment’.

The man with many talents, Johnnie Hughes, who needs no introduction for his phenomenal performance both on radio and television over the years, was adjudged the Best TV Morning Show Host of the Year.

Alfred Ocansey, who is endowed with a masculine authoritative voice mostly behind ground-breaking interviews that often hold many glued to the prime time news, grabbed the Best Male Newscaster of the Year award.

Host of the 3FM‘s morning show (Sunrise) Winston Amoah saw off stiff competition within the capital city to emerge as the Best Radio Personality in the Greater Accra Region.

Host of Onua FM‘s morning show (Yensem Pa) Bright Asempa also stood out as the Best Development Show Host of the Year, making it the second consecutive time Media General took that award.

Also in the Western Region, Paa Kwesi of Connect FM raised the banner of Media General as he came top of competition to emerge as the Best Regional Radio Personality in the Region.

The Awards were held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday to acknowledge and award excellence in the media fraternity.
