Kojo Yankah

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Media General, Hon Kojo Yankah is also Founder, Board Chairman & Past President of the African University College of Communications (AUCC)

Prior to establishing his own consultancy (Yankah & Associates) and a university, Kojo Yankah had worked in the public sector for a number of years.

Among other positions, he was Editor of the widest-circulation Daily Graphic, Director of the Ghana Institute of Journalism for nine years, Member of Parliament (Agona East) and Minister of State for eight years.

During that period, he served as Member of the Ghana Law Reform Commission, Chairman of the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee of Parliament and Member of the National Media Commission. Kojo Yankah hosted a number of programmes on GBC-TV and GBC-Radio including ‘The African Scene”, “Periscope’, and “Talking Point” in the 80s. He also created and produced “Inspector Bediako”- a detective series – on GTV in the 90s.

Hon. Kojo Yankah chaired PANAFEST for ten years (1997-2007).

Currently he also serves as :

– Chairman of the Ghana Heritage Conservation Trust,

–  Fellow and Past President of the Institute of Public Relations, Ghana.

– President,  Adisadel Old Boys Association.

Mr. Yankah was educated at Adisadel College, Cape Coast, the University of Ghana, Legon, up to  graduate level, and studied on Fellowship for professional graduate studies at the University of Nairobi, Kenya and Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. In 2013, he was visiting lecturer in Journalism and Strategic Communications at Ohio University, Athens, Ohio for three months, on AUCC-OU collaboration.

He has travelled extensively across all five continents.

Kojo Yankah is author of nine books, including “The Trial of JJ Rawlings”,  “Osei Tutu – the King on the Golden Stool” and the latest “Our Motherland-My Life”.
